The Way

In The Way we assume the role of an astronaut who, obsessed with resurrecting his deceased wife, plans to return to a planet, which he had already visited with her, where he allegedly finds the extraterrestrial technology capable of working the miracle. The Way is eminently an action and platform videogame in which we also have to solve enigmas and puzzles, but the plot tries to be more complex than what we are used to in titles of this style. While it is true that it has missed some unexpected plot twists and greater complexity in the plot, the story is solved with solvency and even with certain emotional moments.

Beautiful art design
Travelling to another planet

The setting is the most successful aspect of the game, especially because the soundtrack manages to convey the sense of mystery that the plot requires. At the same time there is the resource of showing the descriptions of the scenery with floating messages, as a visual support of the scenery, brilliantly executed. In another aspect, there are also some exciting concrete prints that involve us in this love story.

Lost in the investigation
In a quest to get back his love

However, the technical section turns out to be the most criticized element of The Way, since the behavior of the protagonist's sprite does not meet the precision required by an action and platform game. As a result, miscalculations in jumps and movements will be produced more by this technical defect than by our clumsiness with the controller, which greatly detracts from the final impression produced by the game.

On the subject of puzzles, most of the riddles and puzzles are ingenious, or at least, if not particularly original, there is a certain logic to their inclusion in the adventure. However, others seem like filler without justification, in order to lengthen the duration. All in all, I have to say that The Way has kept me hooked without interruption until the end because of how much I like this kind of adventures and because overall I think it is a worthy work, despite its flaws.
