In Dreamscaper, you play as Cassidy, and the introduction makes it clear that she is not okay, she is dealing with a loss, and to escape her past, she moves to the city of Redhaven to start a new life.
Obviously this will not work and your dreams, or rather, nightmares caused by a foggy memory and depression will be the centre of this story. But she is not alone, or at least later, will meet new people in this city with whom Cassidy will socialize and these interactions will help us to know better our protagonist and what happened to her.

So, how do we deal with these dreams? By fighting them of course
Cassidy's inventory consists of her equipment (weapons, shields, bombs, skills) and keepsakes to get through her dreams and fight her nightmares, new equipment can be unlocked throughout the game.
The dreams are presented as 6 levels to overcome representing her emotional state where you will also find memories and collectibles, these will serve during the day, where we can unlock new items, equipment and rooms.
We also have influence which can be unlocked and leveled up by improving Cassidy's relationship with her new friends, improving Cassidy's stats and combat.

Overall, Dreamscaper is a solid game with a beautiful message, the gameplay feels smooth and the hagh variety of items increase the replayability. Cassidy's friends also feel real and and have a lot of personality, however the few interactions they have with you, makes feel the game is shorter than what is. If you find it easy you can increase the “intensity” or, on the other hand, activate the "lucid mode" to avoid getting frustrated with a wonderful game.
