Introduction
Ghostrunner 2 is the explosive sequel game of One More Level developed by the maestro of 505 Games and is a stunning follow-up to the original cult hit of a cyberpunk parkour slasher. Ghostrunner is now one year after the story, in which you take the lead of Jack, the ultimate cybernetic ninja, who has to take care of another worldwide threat irrelevant to the neon walls of Dharma Tower. Expanded gameplay mechanics, motorcycle combat, and enriched narrative elements create something faster, flashier, and more brutal than before while keeping that razor-thin margin between brilliance and failure.

Gameplay – 9/10
The sequel literally cranks the speed to eleven, giving full gas to the fast-paced motorcycle segments as they interject amid the pen-and-paper conventions of fun on-foot gameplay. The highways set in the far future are broken and cinematic as you shoot and travel at maximum speed, dodging lasers and slicing enemies to bits.
The main mechanics from the first installment are back: smooth parkour, wall-running, grappling, and a katana that kills in one hit — but this time they shine with the inclusion of new abilities and a more vertical level design. Jack is given access to Shadow abilities that include Sensory Boost, so he can slow time in mid-air; and Shuriken throw, providing ranged utility and tactical options. Levels are now more open-ended with branches, optional challenges, and multi-layered arenas.
Combat is swifter, trickier, and packed with more AI variation, more enemy types, and some really creative boss encounters. There is also a more enhanced upgrading system that gives the maximum degree of customization over Jacks' abilities — allowing for different builds that cater to aggressive, defensive, or movement-oriented playstyles.

Visuals & Art Style – 9/10
The visuals of Ghostrunner 2 were pushed beyond the industrial minimalism of the first entry. Still drenched in the style of cyberpunk — neon-backlit ruins, glitching skyscrapers, and futuristic machines — environments have gone on to include wastelands outside, huge mechanical complexes, and richly detailed interiors that bring a variety to the visual palette.
Animation is buttery smooth, especially during the high-paced traversal or slow-motion combat moments. Environmental design is tightly packed and rich in visual storytelling to enforce the idea of a world that is breaking down, both spiritually and structurally.

Sound & Music – 9.5/10
The soundtrack is an absolute beast. Once again, Ghostrunner 2 goes all-in on pulse-pounding synthwave, courtesy of artists like Daniel Deluxe, Arek Reikowski, and others — delivering tracks that elevate every encounter into a rave-soaked dance of death.

Sound effects are sharp, satisfying, and distinct — whether it’s the clash of katana steel, the zip of a grappling hook, or the hum of approaching drones. Voice acting has also improved, with a cast that delivers more emotionally resonant performances and adds depth to Jack’s evolving identity.

Narrative & Atmosphere – 8/10
While the first game offered a minimalist plot, Ghostrunner 2 leans more into character development and world-building. Jack is no longer just a tool of vengeance — he’s now a reluctant leader, navigating internal conflicts, AI conspiracies, and cultish resistance from a new faction known as the Asura.

The story has everything: theme through control, purpose, and identity, making Jack rounder, with moments of more reflection between carnage; side characters like Zoe, among other new-found allies, give this even greater emotional heft; lore entries, and, of course, environmental storytelling, go a long way to fleshing out the world.
Even so, the narration is better, but sometimes turns up behind the gameplay-although the audience will appreciate this effort to further the interest of this dystopian universe.

Replayability – 8.5/10
Ghostrunner 2 abounds with side content called challenge rooms, collectibles, cybervoid puzzles, and upgrade hunting. There is an even deeper upgrade and mod system enabling players to mix and match enhancements for Jack's abilities and playstyle.

And then there's the mini-campaign mode Roguerunner.exe, loosely in roguelike terms, featuring randomization for levels, enemies, and modifiers. This mode alone injects another layer of replayability: a new challenge every time you choose to run it.
And for the perfectionists, there are time trials, leaderboards, and difficulty settings to entice you back again and again.

Final Verdict – 9/10
Ghostrunner 2 is a slick, brutally fast, and smartly refined sequel that takes everything great about the original and dials it up with more variety, more creativity, and a bigger, bolder vision. With tighter combat, killer new movement mechanics, expanded environments, and a face-melting soundtrack, this is a sequel done right — honoring its roots while carving a bold new path.
Whether you're slicing enemies mid-air, drifting on a cyberbike through collapsing tunnels, or solving puzzles in digital dreamscapes, Ghostrunner 2 delivers relentless action with cybernetic precision.
