Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion

A Fun but Flawed Voyage

Gameplay – 6.5/10

Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion is based on a high-seas adventure of Finn, Jake, BMO, and Marceline after the mysterious floodings in the Land of Ooo. The game consists of open-world sailing, turn-based battles, and light puzzles.

Nice place!

It is that the base game is a charming experience but has a less deep battle; although battles are a bit simple, they seem so repetitive with very few enemy types and not much strategy inside. Although being very much fun at the beginning, traveling around Ooo captures the spirit of the show, but the world seems a bit empty without much besides main quests to explore; side quests, although they exist, tend to be simple fetch quests.

Eh.. That's not scary

Character abilities provide some variety. Marceline drains health, Jake shapeshifts for unique attacks, and Finn plays the role of a traditional swordsman, but leveling up doesn’t feel particularly rewarding. The game lacks challenge, making it more appealing to younger players or casual fans of the series.

Not hard to beat them

Graphics & Art Style – 7/10

Visually, the game does a great job of capturing the show’s colorful, quirky style. The cel-shaded art brings Ooo and its characters to life, making it feel like an interactive episode. Character animations are smooth, and the environments are pleasant, though some areas feel underdeveloped.

Thegraphics is good tho

However, technical issues, such as inconsistent frame rates, awkward camera angles, and occasional graphical glitches, can break immersion. While the game looks good overall, the lack of polish is noticeable.

Is he sad?

Sound & Music – 8/10

Very strong in the voice acting department is the original cast returning to their roles. Finn, Jake, and the rest of the gang could have sounded completely different but would have still been true to form in this dub version.

The soundtrack is light and kooky but not anything anyone will remember. It captures the adventure and whimsy of the series without any standout tracks. Sound effects are okay, despite some battle sounds coming across as slightly bland after repeated listens.

Come, fight me

Story & Atmosphere – 7.5/10

The game's story is original and feels like it could be from the show. The mystery of Ooo's flooding all of a sudden, along with the antics of the various characters you experience along the way, makes for a great journey. The dialogue is rife with Adventure Time humor, and the conversations and interactions really feel true to the show.

With that being said, the pacing can be hit-or-miss, with certain plot points feeling rather underdeveloped. This is humor and references that a fan of the show would surely appreciate; however, there isn't really much to this story in the deep, surprising department.

Whoa this hurts the eyes

Replayability – 5/10

Once the main story is completed, there’s little incentive to replay. Side quests are minimal, and there aren’t many hidden secrets or extra challenges to discover. The lack of difficulty settings also means there’s not much variation in gameplay.

I like to control it tho

Final Verdict – 6.5/10

Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion is a delightful and relaxed RPG that captures the soul of the series but is not realized in great execution. While this world is beguiling, brilliant voice acting, and spot-on humor, the repeated battle and above-represented side content alongside hiccups keep it from that next level rating.

Time to explore

Fans of Adventure Time may enjoy the game as a lighthearted experience, but RPG veterans or players looking for deep mechanics may find it lacking. It’s a decent game for younger audiences and die-hard fans, but not a must-play for everyone. 🏴‍☠️🎮
