Tiny Troopers is a twin-stick shooter very similar to the old Amiga game Cannon Fodder. You command a small squad of regular soldiers and need to complete various missions. Death is permanent for your troops, though I’m not sure if it’s possible to completely run out of recruits. That’s likely because the game is much easier compared to Cannon Fodder, thanks to the surplus of medkits available.
First things first—does it have a plot? Honestly, I don’t really remember much beyond the generic premise: another tyrant needs to be removed because he’s a threat to freedom and democracy. It’s not particularly memorable. The missions are fairly standard and include objectives like rescuing hostages, clearing sectors of terrorists, destroying enemy APCs and tanks, escorting journalists, eliminating enemy leaders, or holding your ground for a set amount of time.
What do you have at your disposal? Your regular foot soldiers come equipped with trusty assault rifles (like ARs or M16s), grenades, rocket launchers, and a radio for calling in pinpoint airstrikes. You can also hire temporary professionals who come armed with specialized weapons, such as light machine guns. As you eliminate enemies, you earn points that can be used to upgrade your regular soldiers, call in supply crates, or hire professionals. Additionally, there are secondary tasks and collectible dog tags that reward extra points. Almost forgot—besides the campaign mode, there’s also an endless zombie horde mode for added variety.
There’s not much else to say about this game—it’s relatively short. It’s good for one playthrough and maybe a few zombie runs afterward. Unfortunately, it has been delisted on Steam and replaced by a game called Global Ops. Still, if you felt like Cannon Fodder wasn’t enough, this game is worth checking out.
