Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp. This one is… how should I say it. I’d call date sim, but it lacks in my opinion the necessary date sim elements to be a proper one. Visual novel? Nah not that either, while it does look like a visual novel. But once again it lacks what makes visual novel a visual novel. So pardon me but I’ll call gaming product with date sim and vn elements identical to natural. Oh right there is a multiplayer up to 4 players so we can call this one a board game. Also this is a sequel to Monster Prom which I did play.

So plotwise there isn’t much, we don’t have plot we have a goal. Our goal is to conquer the heart of one of the other monsters.
There is that chubby with Joy, she a covenant witch who acts like “It’s not a phase mom” which means she snarky, angsty, cringy (that applies to all of the potential love interests) teen who’s constantly annoyed and parents are stupid and they don’t understand and get off my back, mom!
Then there is that chick with a ghost or a spirit named Aaravi. She’s… you know it’s kind of hard to describe all the characters as something different when they all act the same. She’s crazy, annoying and insufferable which once again can easily apply to any other love interests in this game. Who wrote characters for this gamer? Seriously, I always skip the credits and most of dialogs since I cannot tolerate that stream of self-conscience bullshit for then two minutes.
Another one is Calculester. I think he’s robot from the first game. He’s unlike the other is not annoying or cringey or angsty or insufferable. But he’s unbelievably naïve and has zero presence. Boring one since I’m not interested in Plankton’s wife.
Next one… Dahlia. That one got most of my attention since I attempted to seduce her the whole whoopin’ two times. She’s tall fit and muscular ogre/oni. I’ll be honest with you there are zero likable characters. So I just objectify them and take one that fit my fetishes. Dahlia checked out my preferences. If only I didn’t have to listen to her talk.
NEXT! Damien…. Cringey red demon boy. Unfortunately I did interact with him when I randomly choose to seduce Aaravi… Or was it Joy? Whatever.
Last one I think is that Mexican androgynous pretentious twat named Milo. I have no fecking idea Milo is a chick or a dude and I don’t really care but it seems this creature is obsessed with social media.
There are other characters that you can meet during your camp time but since they all are insufferable pricks I’m not going to explain who they are.

Gameplay. Depends on length of the game you’d have either 2 or 4 days. Well game says short session is around 30 minutes and full one is an hour. So I’ll just assume that full game is four days. One day consists of two places to hang out, 1 night conversation near bonfire and one drink before sleep. But before we can attempt to seduce one of those zero personality love interests we need to pick our avatar.
We have a choice of 2 girls and 2 boys. I think the same was in the first game. One boy is some kind of fire elemental the other one is zombie. As for girls one is a fire elemental and the other one is Frankenstein’s monster. After that you can pick up to three items to take with you. Those will be your stats boosters. As for the stats they are: Boldness, fun, creativity, smarts and charm. Okay now we can pick whoever we will attempt to seduce. We pick it by choosing a what are we attempt to strife for at the camp and if see which of the potential lovers most compatible with our choice.

Okay now we can place to hang out, we will get a two stat boosts from it, one +2 and one +1. After that we will encounter our love interest and potential another character. We then will be provided with a choice to solve a problem that we (all) caused. There we learn how date elements works. There are no right answer and no wrong answer. Instead we must try to figure one to what our stat the choice correlates too. For example one of option is FUN and the other one is CHARM. Let’s say we have 10 FUN and 5 CHARM. So we must pick the FUN option. After that over we have one more place to hang out.
Then we go to “fire talk”. We need to decide who to sit with and since we attempt to seduce someone obviously we need to get closer with our love interest to attempt to gain “heart” from it. But we also can pick a mothman to spread rumors about for stat boost. After that we must pick a drink before sleep. Drinks have variety of effects and not just stat boosts. As for what to pick we can have a drink recommended by the bartender cat or mysterious random drink. Or we can attempt to pick a drink with a mini game. There will be 4x4 squares field where we need to pick a square and attempt to stay there till the time run out.

As to how we success I have no idea. I did not manage to seduce one I didn’t even try that hard. I guess you need certain stats in order to achieve love. But whatever not a big loss since they all are bunch of insufferable cunts. Right writing is so cringey that it legit prevents me from reading more than two windows of dialogs. My gripe with that with it that game tries to be edgy, funny and polite enough to not offend rainbow people. And it fails miserably at all three categories. You can’t talk about how you conquered a village, slaughtered all its residents and then attempt to pick right pronouns to not offend one person while shitting out cringey jokes. What worse is that you are mocked for not seducing your interest or for picking “I do not want any of those twats as my love interest” option. Whatever, whoever wrote all the text for this game clearly visits, tumblr, twitter and reddit. There is nothing to see in this game apart from somehow decent looking chicks. Easy skip.
