Ara Fell

Another RPGmaker game but this one is good.
First ruins

Ara Fell. This one is a RPG made on rpgmaker. Yeah RPG makers games could be bad but I say percentage from good to bad is around 30% good to 70% bad. What about this one? I can yell that it was made with enough care to not lump it with 70%.

She can, I vouch for her.

Let’s start with the plot as usual. In a weird flying world of Ara Fell two young ones are snooping around old ruins of previous civilization. Those two are: Lita, a 16yo archer girl and Adrian same age but he prefers using axe and shield. Adrian got an odd job from a stranger that visited their village. Bald pale man with red irises asked him to search old ruins and look for a ring there. For that he promised big riches, big enough that Adrian can start his own independent life and marry Lita. And so he agrees and asks Lite to help him. Why? First of all two are better than one. Secondly there are a lot of small holes crevices where Lita can squeeze since she’s very petite and small. But they got separated when Lita fell in one of the holes. She got lucky since she could’ve easily landed right into abyss, if you didn’t forget they are on a flying continent. She tries to find an exit but only find the ring Adrian asked for. Bruised and tired she decided to sleep on it and to search for an exit again next morning. She also decided to put said ring on her finger. That’s where all of this started. Soon her world and life are going to flip all over the place.  She’s going to meet many friend and even more enemies and she must go through all of it to save their continent and people of sickle of doom in a face of vampires and ancient curse.

Side quest

Gameplay.  If you played an rpgmaker game you know the basics of UI and possible battle system. They are mostly the same here too but with tweaks and customization. For example we don’t have different equipment. We need to upgrade the one that we have and we do it by via crafting menu. We have different gear but we all have the same amount of it. Of course we need several items that are required for an upgrade. You can either buy them or get them as a drop from monsters. Though be aware money are scarce you won’t get usual 99999999G in your pocket. Also accessories would get an enchantment slot with each upgrade.

You can also craft potions, all kinds of them. But you need to buy recipes first. To be honest I barely crafted any of it besides regular heal potions and even those I didn’t really need. It is because with right skill upgrades you don’t really need them even of hardest difficulty. I for once started to play on 3rd of 4 difficulties and so far I only had problem in one fight. But simple change of strategy helped even there.  Right, skills. You’ll learn all of them quite early in the game. You’ll just need to upgrade them via two slightly different ways. First way is “class stones”, they are direct upgrade to a skill of your choice. Second are essence stones, but you can only use them after you upgrade your first class. Those stones offer a choice like either further increase damage of skill, or you skill heals party when you hit an enemy with it. Also apart from Lita all of the second classes are optional and you need to find the quest for them.

What else? Right, game is quite easy even on a hardest difficulty because you are fully restored after each fight. Well if one of you gets KO’d you’ll need to cure the “injury” status that lowers all stats but apart from that no penalties. I guess that’s why all your fighters are quite fragile and will most likely to fall in just two to three attacks. But as I said with right tactics and proper skills it won’t happen. Also no random encounters, all enemies are visible.

SHE WAS ONLY 17 YEARS, 364 DAYS, 23 HOURS, 59 SECOND OLD, YOU SICK BASTARD!

In the end I would like to say that game ma y look like standard rpg I can assure you it was made with care. I definitely enjoyed it I recommend it to any other rpg fan.

Giggity giggity goo, he-he alright.
Score 7 out of 10

Not standard portraits is a big plus, slight minus for visual clustertruck of everything on the screen which can make navigation annoying.

NO bangers but not bad either, some bgms are memorable that's a plus.

There are a lot of things to do. I like it about RPGmakers game.

PROS / CONS

  • Good pixel graphics
  • Easy to play
  • Okay plot
  • Lot's of side thing to do
  • Teleport crystals that turns off when plot demands.
  • Too much visual garbage on the screen making it looks like everything is interactable.
